TWO WEEKS, 100SQM, ONE STUNNING TRANSFORMATION

Professional tiler, TFP Tiling Co., has been working with a client who required a durable, modern finish that would stand the test of time in a 100sqm high-traffic area. TFP was brought in to deliver the installation and ensure a flawless long-lasting result.

The substrate was a traditional sand and cement base, providing a solid foundation for the porcelain tiles. TFP Tiling Co. selected UltraTile’s ProPrimer to prepare the surface, ensuring strong adhesion and compatibility with the subsequent layers.

UltraTile ProPrimer is a versatile, moisture-tolerant acrylic primer engineered to deliver exceptional bond strength across multiple substrates. Whether it’s porous or non-porous surfaces, walls or floors, internal or external, ProPrimer reduces substrate porosity and boosts adhesion – especially on challenging surfaces like calcium sulphate screeds or underfloor heating.

For the main installation, ProGrip FX was used as the adhesive of choice. Its performance was key in handling the 80x80mm porcelain tiles, providing excellent grab and eliminating slump during placement.

ProGrip FX is a single-part, semi-rapid flexible adhesive designed for wall and floor tiling. Engineered with enhanced grab and FibreBond Technology, it offers excellent strength – especially useful when installing porcelain and natural stone tiles, or in areas where vibration or slight movement can occur.

Once the tiles were set, the project was finished with ProGrout Flexible grout in dark grey, chosen both for its durability and for the contemporary aesthetic it brought to the completed space.

Available in 14 gorgeous tones to suit all designs and tastes, ProGrout Flexible is suitable for use with all tile types and can be washed down easily with minimal effort. Designed for areas where movement and vibration is likely, ProGrout Flexible is suitable for joint widths up to 20mm, is mould resistant, and will set in just 12 hours.

Furthermore, ProGrout Flexible has been developed using ColourShield Technology – a process which involves the addition of a specialist additive for lasting colour protection.

Installation Process

The project took place over a two-week period. Following the rip-out of the original flooring, TFP Tiling Co. carefully primed, tiled and grouted both the hallway and kitchen areas. The use of UltraTile materials enabled a consistent workflow, reducing downtime and allowing the installation to progress smoothly.

The porcelain tiles required careful handling and precise placement. Thanks to the performance of ProGrip FX, TFP Tiling Co. was able to secure each tile efficiently while maintaining clean lines and alignment across the large 100sqm space.

Results and Finish

The completed floors transformed the property, delivering a robust yet stylish finish across the downstairs area. ProGrout Flexible created a stunning finish that complemented the porcelain tiles, providing both a modern aesthetic and long-term practicality.

Feedback

Reflecting on the project, Tom Parker, Owner of TFP Tiling Co, commented: “UltraTile materials were easy to work with, mixed well, trowelled well, and held the tiles in place without slump. The grout was very easy to work with and produced a smooth universal finish.”

Conclusion

With the use of UltraTile materials, TFP Tiling Co. was able to deliver a seamless, professional result that met both aesthetic and practical demands of the refurbishment.
