Norcros Adhesives is announcing another phase of new investments to meet rising demand for its range of tiling and flooring preparation, fixing and finishing products.
The company is investing in new packaging equipment, additional staff and an increase in the number of manufacturing shifts from two to three.
These investments follow an increase of 150 per cent last year in the capacity of the company’s Tunstall plant, which it achieved by implementing new pneumatic transfer technology on the production line and installing an ERP and warehouse management system.
Now increasing sales of Norcros Adhesives’ core tiling products, as well as the continuing success of the company’s current push into the wider flooring and housebuilding markets, have triggered the need for the latest factory investments. Recently Norcros Adhesives has won several new specifications with house builders to add to its exclusive arrangements with Barratts and David Wilson Homes.
The largest part of the latest investment is in packaging machinery, allowing the company to improve further the speed and flexibility with which it can convert newly manufactured product into final packaging. As well as moving to a three-shift working pattern, the company has also invested in new personnel. Stephen Murfin joins Norcros Adhesives as Operations Manager, while there are new staff in Sales Order Processing and an increase in staffing, quality control and product development.
“Innovation has always been key to what we do at Norcros Adhesives, and it is our investment in innovation over the last couple of years that underpins the strong product demand that we are currently enjoying,” says Richard Wallis, Managing Director. “These latest developments critically allow us to focus on this innovation for the future, while also ensuring that we are able to meet current customer demand as rapidly and efficiently as possible.”
The company is also focused on the sales and customer service aspects of its business. Earlier this year Norcros Adhesives strengthened its sales force with the addition of two new recruits – Eric Glover joined as Southern Regional Specification Manager, while Nick Spooner was appointed Area Sales Manager for South Wales and the Midlands.
