CITB is launching a new grant scheme designed to support smaller construction companies with the start-up costs involved in taking on a new apprentice. It is a two-year pilot scheme, and is an addition to existing CITB full apprenticeship grant packages.
Construction companies are eligible to apply for the grant of £500 if they:
- are eligible for the small business levy reduction or exemption.
- have an apprentice who started the first year of their apprenticeship on or after 1 August 2019.
- are registered with CITB.
The grant has been developed to help construction employers with some of the costs of taking on a new apprentice – for example the cost of recruitment and associated start-up costs.
The application must be made within 20 weeks of an apprentice starting their apprenticeship.
Full details on the new grant scheme, together with an online application form, are to be found on the CITB website.
