The Master Craftsman Award is the highest honour bestowed by the Worshipful Company of Tylers and Bricklayers of the City of London, recognising individuals who have reached the very highest standards of craftsmanship within their trade.
For wall and floor tilers, this prestigious award celebrates not only technical excellence, but also years of experience, professionalism and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards across the industry.
To be eligible, applicants must have:
- Completed a recognised apprenticeship or college course in the trade
- Achieved formal craft qualifications (minimum Level 3 NVQ or equivalent)
- A minimum of 15 years’ experience as a wall and floor tile fixer
- Demonstrable experience of complex or heritage tiling projects
- A portfolio showcasing their work and professional achievements
The assessment process is rigorous and includes the submission of supporting evidence, site visits by assessors and an interview, ensuring Master Craftsman status remains one of the industry’s most respected accolades.
