HIGH PERFORMANCE MAPEI SYSTEM SPECIFIED FOR THE NEW DICK LOVETT PORSCHE CENTRE BRISTOL

Published 21st October 2026 / Featured

A comprehensive Mapei specification has been used to deliver high-quality tiled finishes at the new Dick Lovett Destination Porsche Centre in Bristol. Developed in collaboration with Pier Architects, the specification combined advanced substrate preparation and installation products, selected to achieve premium interior finishes whilst meeting the technical demands of a high-traffic showroom setting. The installation was carried out by Andersons Tiling on behalf of Beard Construction.

Located on the site of its previous facility, the new Destination Porsche Centre provides an additional 25,000 sq ft of space, with a new second floor featuring the latest Porsche models including the 911, Macan, Cayenne, Panamera, and Taycan. It includes new Specification Lounges, meeting rooms and working pods, along with a new 17-bay workshop. The Mapei specification, implemented by Gloucester-based Pier Architects, follows their earlier Porsche Centre project at Newport, South Wales and The Hangar – Porsche’s temporary Bristol home while the new facility was under construction.

Following substrate preparation, Eco Prim T Plus acrylic primer was applied to the substrate, followed by installation of Ultraplan Renovation Screed 3240 fibre-reinforced self-levelling compound.  Mapeguard UM 35 anti-fracture membrane was then installed over the cured compound to create a protective, waterproof uncoupling layer.

Three Mapei adhesives were used to install over 2,500sqm of tiling from Solus. They included Keraquick XL Fibrelite, Keraquick Easy S1 and Keraflex Maxi S1.  Tile joints were then grouted with Kerapoxy Easy Design epoxy grout and Ultracolor Plus cementitious grout.

The Mapei primer, levelling compound, adhesives and grouts specified all benefit from very low VOC formulations with EMICODE® EC1PLUS certification, promoting a safe, low-odour working environment. Eco Prim T Plus, Keraflex Maxi S1 and Ultracolor Plus all have CO2 offset in their entire life cycle.*

The Porsche tile specification included: large format 1200 x 600mm porcelain floor tiles for the showroom, 1000 x 1000mm terrazzo floor tiles for the showroom seating area, 200 x 200mm porcelain wall and floor tiles for the workshop, and 1000 x 1000mm porcelain wall and floor tiles for customers toilet facilities. All tiles were supplied by Solus.
