Children Today, one of TTA’s nominated charities, reports that while 11% of children in the UK have a physical disability and 15–2o% are diagnosed as neurodivergent, approximately only 3.4% of children’s books feature a disabled main character.
Aiming to tackle this problem, Children Today’s ‘Reading for Life’ Crowdfunder is live until the 30th October! The campaign aims to help more children access stories with positive messaging about disability.
This project has received a pledge from one of our funding partners. In order to receive this pledge the campaign must hit its fundraising target by 30th October 2024.
