The SkillBuild National Final sees the nation’s best apprentices and learners battling it out to be the highest scoring competitor in their trade. The competition final returns to the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes on Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st November 2024, open from 9am on both days.
Visitors can learn more about joining a trade with SkillBuild’s Construction Showcase, open from 10am–3pm. The Tile Association’s ‘have a go’ demonstration area will provide valuable hands-on experience of installing a tile. The stand will be hosted by David Westwood of Westwoods Tiling, sharing his insight as an industry veteran, winner of the Tile Fixer of the Year 2023 TTA Award and Master Tile Fixer.
The Tile Association is proud to sponsor SkillBuild along with other TTA members – Building Adhesives Ltd (BAL), N&C Nicobond and Schlüter-Systems – and support talented construction trainees and apprentices. Chair of TTA Training Committee David Rowley and TTA Technical & Training Manager Martin Pouncey bring their expertise as judges for the wall and floor tiling category, alongside industry veterans John Chambers and Paul Doran.
The six finalists for the wall and floor tiling category at the SkillBuild National Final are:

- Rebecca Gavigan, North West Regional College;
- Ben Gordon, P Plunkett Tiling Contractors Ltd;
- Travis Huntley, Cardiff and Vale College;
- Nadir Qahtan, South and City College; and
- Holly Taylor Whitehead, Leeds College of Building
