The TTA has a long history of support for SkillBuild and it has therefore been happy to endorse this year’s event. The TTA attaches particular importance to the ongoing work of driving up skill levels in our industry, working in particular with young independent fixers. Throughout the year the TTA does a lot of work, through its Training Committee, on seminars, developing qualifications and promoting training awards.
The Board therefore sends its congratulations to all eight finalists who participated in this year’s national final – and in particular to the winner, Gordon Cook from City of Glasgow College.
The TTA feels that it is important to encourage tile fixers to take part in SkillBuild and the high quality of entry and enthusiasm of all the participants bodes well for the tiling industry going forward. A highly skilled workforce is beneficial for the entire industry and the Skillbuild event puts tiling into a positive spotlight.
