Norcros Adhesives assist hospice with refurbishment project

Norcros Adhesives – a longtime supporter of the Douglas MacMillan Hospice in Stoke – is now getting hands-on with an important refurbishment project for the much-loved charity.

The company is now part way through a project to refurbish four bathrooms at the Hospice. Sister company Johnson Tiles are providing the tiles for the whole project, while Norcros Adhesives are supplying all the adhesives, grouts and ancillaries.

Phil Searle, customer support technician at Norcros Adhesives, is carrying out the work. Phil is normally to be seen working at trade days and events in addition to delivering product training, both on-site and at the company’s new Skills Centre, opened earlier this year. But he is evidently enjoying the challenge of this particular job.

“This is a really worthwhile project for Norcros Adhesives to be involved in,” he says. “Following a number of support activities that we have carried out for the Dougie Mac, it’s great actually to be here doing something of real practical benefit for the residents.”

Norcros Adhesives together with sister company Johnson Tiles have been raising money for the Douglas Macmillan Hospice since early 2015 when they earned the Bronze Corporate Award. Amongst the fundraising efforts, the company has donated 10p from the sale of every bag of Norcros Pro 30 Fast Track Eco to the Hospice. The two companies have also organised a “bring a £1 day”, cake sales, bag collections, and a very popular Christmas Jumper day in addition to other fund-raising events, and are well on their way to achieving the Silver Corporate Award in 2016.

“We’re really pleased that Norcros Adhesives and Johnson Tiles have been able to support the refurbishment of the bathrooms on our In Patient Unit,” says Suzi Smith, head of corporate fundraising and events. “This project is a great example of different ways in which a company can support the hospice – the sister companies are donating their products, services and time to the benefit of our patients. We’re really looking forward to seeing the end result and we’d like to thank Phil and the team for all their hard work so far.”

The Douglas Macmillan Hospice has been established over 40 years and provides all its hospice services free of charge to adults with life limiting illnesses in the North Staffordshire area and also provides supportive care for their families and carers. It needs to raise at least £11 million annually to maintain its services, with 75% of the money raised coming from voluntary donations. There is more information about the hospice HERE
