Bedrock Tiles are proud to announce that they have achieved the status of becoming the first company in the UK tiling industry to be certified as carbon neutral. This was completed during the week of COP26 in Glasgow and it could not have been completed at a better time, especially whilst everyone’s attention is now focused on sustainability.
The carbon-neutral certification process is intense and thorough. It took Bedrock Tiles three months to collate and present all the data for scopes 1, 2 and 3 and took a further three weeks for that data to be analysed and reported back to them.
It has been calculated that Bedrock Tiles omit 52 tonnes of carbon whilst conducting their operational tile-supplying activities over the course of a year. However, carbon offsetting schemes allow companies to compensate for their emissions by funding an equivalent CO2 saving elsewhere such as investments in large-scale hydro, turbine, forestation or solar projects. Bedrock Tiles chose to send their contribution to hydro and forestation projects.
The certification is an annual requirement and Bedrock Tiles have now incorporated it into their operational procedures and budgets. They look forward to continuing their good work into next year and the future.
Bedrock Tiles encourage many other forward-thinking businesses to go carbon neutral and would like to extend an invitation to fellow businesses to get in touch to discuss how to gain certification.
