GREY STILL REIGNS SUPREME AS THE MODERN DAY NEUTRAL, SAYS VERONA

Published 4th June 2020 / Featured

With independent retailers and tile suppliers recently closing their doors, tile businesses everywhere have endured some difficult weeks. But with some companies beginning to trade again safely, Verona has released its best sellers list, revealing the designs and styles that resonate strongly with today’s modern consumer.

As Verona begins phase one of reopening its warehouse to limited online orders, the business is encouraging customers to take stock and revaluate their current tile offering to develop a consumer-focused collection that reflects current market trends and interior styles to drive sales in the coming months.

Consumer tastes focused on the monochrome colour palette

It’s no surprise to hear that light, mid grey and dark grey surface coverings are still hugely popular within the interiors market, with porcelain and ceramic grey tiles dominating our 25 best sellers list,” explains Verona’s marketing director, Katy Harris.

“Consumer demand is centered on this modern day neutral. A versatile base colour that can work in all design schemes from period properties through to urban, industrial-styles spaces, grey is here to stay and will be transforming homes for the foreseeable. Grey textured stone-effects are ‘must have’ ranges within any tile retailer’s collection, as they remain in such high demand and transition easily to suit the space.”

Greige has fast made its way onto the best sellers’ list and is a colourway we’d recommend our retailers to stock as it is at the warmer end of the spectrum. It’s a shade well-suited to consumers who are searching for something in between the cool modernity of grey and the classic, natural undertones of beige.”

Crips white marbles with gentle veining

Classic crisp white marble-effects also feature strongly within Verona’s best sellers list. Calcatta marble-effects with discreet, swirling veining suit a variety of spaces, especially bathrooms, and can be installed from floor to ceiling for a boutique look. Katy explains, “Marble designs are essential within any tile collection and are favoured by consumers as they deliver a calming, sophisticated aesthetic but at a much lower cost, creating a luxurious look for less.”

Combining textures for tactile spaces

Wood-effects reflect the same colour trends. Consumers are experimenting with designs and textures to add interest to their living spaces, mixing and matching stone-effect wall tiles with timber-effect floors, but within the same monochrome colour palette. Dark grey oak, dark beige and distressed designs that deliver an aged appearance are all within Verona’s top 25 best sellers.

Verona has reopened its warehouse and is now processing and dispatching orders placed through its trade portal. Social distancing measures are in place to ensure the safety of all staff within the warehouse. Customers who place an order online will receive a free hand sanitiser with their delivery on a first come, first served basis.
