Cheadle-based business, Real Stone & Tile has joined forces with local charity, The Wellspring Stockport, an organisation which supports homeless and disadvantaged people living in Stockport and the surrounding areas.
Earlier in the year, Leigh Price, co-director of Real Stone & Tile, launched a new initiative – ‘Real Stone & Tile in the Community’ which supports local groups and charity organisations by donating much needed and often expensive materials.
After hearing about the initiative, the team at The Wellspring contacted Leigh to discuss refurbishing the facility’s shower room and toilets, which are regularly used by those in need but had fallen in to disrepair.
Jonathan Billings, Chief Executive Officer of The Wellspring Stockport, explains: “Hundreds of vulnerable people use the centre each week, so you can understand how important the shower and bathroom facilities are. These services are also largely unavailable in Stockport, making them an essential part of our project.
“The charity survives on donations from the kind people of Stockport and each day we are overwhelmed by the support we continue to receive. We would like to thank the team at Real Stone & Tile for their generous donation, our facilities have been transformed in to a clean, safe and stylish wet room and bathrooms, much to the delight of our users.”
The centre, based on Harvey Street, supports homeless and vulnerable people living in the local area, proving food, clothing, advice and support to adults, 365 days a year. During November, the charity held its annual ‘Rucksack Project’ which calls on local people to donate rucksacks, sleeping bags, hats, scarves and gloves to the centre, for the team to distribute to people sleeping rough during the winter.
Real Stone & Tile’s Leigh Price comments: “As a local company we pride ourselves on helping our community and raising awareness of worthwhile causes. As soon as we heard about the amazing work that The Wellspring has been doing in Stockport, we couldn’t wait to get involved and lend a helping hand.”
