Visitors to St George’s Hall will have an exciting opportunity this summer to experience one of Liverpool’s most stunning architectural treasures when the Hall unveils its magnificent Minton tile floor for an extended public reveal from 17th July to 2nd September 2026.
Usually protected beneath a wooden covering to preserve its intricate craftsmanship, the Minton floor is a fine and treasured example of Victorian design.
Comprising 30,000 hand crafted tiles, the mosaic has captivated hundreds of thousands of people over the decades, with its rich colours, classical motifs and remarkable level of preservation.
A successful opening night
A representative of St George’s Hall, Liverpool, said: ‘Thank you to everyone who joined us last night for the Minton Tiles Reveal and Custodian Private Viewing at St George’s Hall.
‘The evening was an opportunity to showcase the remarkable restoration of this iconic feature and to thank those who continue to support St George’s Hall, helping to preserve its heritage, strengthen its future and keep it at the heart of Liverpool.
‘We were also delighted to share the exciting programme of experiences, events and opportunities taking place across the Hall in the months ahead.
‘As we celebrated the restoration of the Minton Floor, we were reminded of what makes St George’s Hall so special. St George’s Hall is Liverpool’s emotional heart. It is where we celebrate, where we gather, and where we remember. We never forget that this place belongs to the people of Liverpool. It is, and always will be, yours.’
Expanded programme and public access
Last revealed in 2023, with over 20,000 visitors from across the UK, St George’s Hall has expanded the 2026 event programme to include immersive tours, creative workshops, local musicians – including Brad Kella, winner of Channel 4’s The Piano – along with a new archival exhibition.
All ticket sales directly support the upkeep of St George’s Hall, with donations also going directly to the St George’s Hall Charitable Trust, which works to preserve the Hall for future generations, as well as the restoration of the Willis Organ.
