A range of Tilemaster products have been used by V-TA Architectural Tiling, at Blakes Hotel in London’s Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea. The project included installation of a new Moroccan-style ceramic terrace at the rear of the “Couture” hotel. The Solus Ceramics form part of the vibrant Courtyard Garden, designed by Matthew Williamson, which is nestled between the hotel and its muse house. They were fixed into place using levelling, adhesive and grout products from Tilemaster’s collection.
Situated within a terrace of grand Victorian townhouses, Blakes is a five-star upmarket boutique hotel designed by Anouska Hempel. The newly designed Courtyard Garden provides a year-round tranquil retreat with a Bohemian feel. It includes a refreshed domed birdcage conservatory, with an antique gold exterior and features lush planting – by Harris Murray-Wicks Studio – within a kaleidoscope of colour.
During the project, John Simons at V-TA acid-cleaned the existing stone, before preparing the surface and fixing the Solus Ceramic tiles using four Tilemaster products. These included flexible primer and bonding agent, Prime Plus, before the surface was levelled with rapid-setting screed, Pro Flow. Tiles were then fixed with Rapid Setaflex – a flexible, fast-setting adhesive – and frost-proof Grout 3000.
