ON THE TILES FOUNDER, BRIAN ELKINS, PASSES AWAY

Published 29th September 2020 / General

It has been reported that Brian Elkins, founder of On The Tiles in Millbrook, Southampton, has died, following a lengthy battle with Motor Neurone Disease.

Brian was known for his mischievous sense of humour and his enjoyment of physics, craft and working with tools. This set him on a path working for MFI and Comet, moving to Plymouth for the latter role.

He founded his company 30 years ago, having originally set up a business repairing electrical equipment. Since 1990 the firm has supplied tiles to cruise ships, historic Hampshire pubs and even Coronation Street!

He was a knowledgeable and practical man who enjoyed many hobbies including flying a gyrocopter, tree grafting, pottery, learning Italian and car mechanics. Brian was always happy to pass his skills on to others.
