Norcros Adhesives, one of the UK’s top tile adhesive and grout brands, has announced it is to cease operations.
In a statement to customers, Managing Director, Simon Poe says that despite implementing a programme of profit improvement measures, the business has unfortunately continued to be loss-making.
The closure process will be put into effect immediately, but the business will continue to manufacture in the short term as it looks to fulfil any “important outstanding orders”. Customers will be contacted to discuss any current or future purchase order commitments.
“All legal liabilities will be met in full, and the closure will be managed accordingly,” says Mr Poe.
The closure will result in the loss of all 70 jobs at the company, which is based at Tunstall in Stoke-on-Trent.
Since its founding 20 years ago, Norcros Adhesives had established a reputation for innovation in the market place for its ranges of tile adhesive, grouts and floor preparation products. Markets served included consumers (with its NX brand), builders merchants, tile distributors and the specification sector. The company also had a strong sustainability platform, having won the TTA ‘Best Environmental Initiative’ three times running in recent years.
Sister company Johnson Tiles, the UK’s sole remaining volume tile manufacturer which operates from an adjacent site, is unaffected by the closure of Norcros Adhesives.
