The Worshipful Company of Tylers and Bricklayers is calling for nominations for the prestigious Triennial Awards, which celebrate excellence in wall and floor tiling, as well as bricklaying and roof tiling.
The Worshipful Company is one of the oldest of the City of London’s historic livery companies, having received its Royal Charter from Queen Elizabeth I in 1568. It presents the Awards to projects which demonstrate excellence in each of the three categories.
To be considered projects must be located within the boundary of the M25 motorway and must have been completed in the four years prior to 15th February 2021. Completed nominations must have been received no later than 15 February 2021.
The Awards are judged in an assessment process by panels of qualified assessors, including visits to view the buildings. The winning projects will be announced in May 2021. In past years the Awards have been presented by the Right Honourable the Lord Mayor of London.
Each Award consists of a framed certificate for the owner of the winning building, its architect and the principal specialist contractor (depending on the category of the Award) and a certificate and a silver medal for the craftsman.
The nomination forms can be downloaded from the Worshipful Company’s website. Copies may also be obtained from Christopher Causer, the Chairman of the Company’s Craft Committee, by emailing c123causer@gmail.com or by telephone 01794 389393.
Previous winners of the Triennial Awards include mosaic tiling at Tottenham Court Road underground station, Battersea Power Station, the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew and the Reform Club.
