Leading UK tile manufacturer Johnson Tiles has lent its support to the WorldSkills UK Squad, currently preparing for the 44th WorldSkills Competition to be held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre in October 2017.
The competition celebrates the best emerging talent in 50 different skills, inviting young people from 75 member countries and regions to compete for the prestigious title.
The TTA and member businesses are supporting the competitors in the run-up to Abu Dhabi. Schluter Systems are the main sponsors of the UK squad, and BAL are supplying the adhesives for their training sessions.
The UK Squad, based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, also required over 1,300 ceramic tiles for its preparations, and Johnson Tiles was happy to step in and supply a variety of products from its award-winning ranges.
Darren Clanford, Creative Director at Johnson Tiles, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting the UK Squad at WorldSkills 2017. Johnson Tiles has long been dedicated to championing emerging talent, and this partnership ensures that vital, core skills are being passed on to the next generation. We wish the UK Squad the very best in their training.”
The sponsorship follows Johnson Tiles’ recent support of New Designers – held annually at London’s Business Design Centre, and offering new design talent the chance to showcase their work to thousands of visitors from the A&D community. The Johnson Tiles Associate Prizes were awarded to two outstanding candidates at Part One and Two of the event (29 June – 9 July 2016).
