JACKOBOARD® REELS IN SUCCESS WITH 48-HOUR CARP FISHING SOCIAL

Jackoboard® recently partnered with Tilers Community to host a unique 48-hour carp fishing social event. Held from June 10th–12th at the picturesque Sandhurst Lake on the Yateley Complex in Hampshire, the event provided a much-needed mid-week break for tilers to unwind, connect, and enjoy the great outdoors.

Organised by Scott Hatton, BEWI Technical Sales Support Manager – North, the event brought together tilers from across the UK for two days of friendly fishing competition, plenty of socialising, and relaxation. With the tranquil surroundings of Sandhurst Lake setting the stage, attendees had the opportunity to enjoy the thrill of carp fishing while also strengthening professional relationships and building new connections within the tiling community.

The event also featured a fantastic BBQ, giving attendees the chance to relax and enjoy great food and refreshments while sharing stories of their fishing adventures. The talented chef behind the grill was Jason Sandford from Chef UK Carp, who ensured everyone was well-fed with delicious meals throughout the event, adding a truly special touch to the gathering.

One of the driving forces behind organising this event was to offer a refreshing alternative to the abundance of golf days commonly held within the industry. While golf remains a popular choice for networking events, Jackoboard® and Tilers Community wanted to create something different, recognising that not all tilers are fans of the sport.

1st prize went to Ryan Drabble for catching the largest fish weighing 33lb, while 2nd place went to David Westwood and 3rd place to Jake Dunning. Thank you to Fastwarm, BIHUI and UltraTile for making donations towards the prizes.

Dave Dyer, an avid angler and participant in the event, shared his thoughts: “Great trip, probably one of the best trips I’ve done with any company. Being a big fish addict, I’ve had enough of the golf days – there’s too much golf and not enough fishing! Thanks again, Scott.”

Scott said: “It was about creating a space for tilers to relax, recharge, and build a sense of camaraderie outside of the usual work setting. The event served as a reminder of the importance of work-life balance, allowing industry professionals to take a step back, enjoy some friendly competition, and foster long-lasting connections”.

Following the success of the 48-hour carp social, both Jackoboard® and Tilers Community are already planning future events to continue offering tilers new and exciting ways to connect and unwind. The event was a perfect blend of relaxation, competition, and community spirit, leaving attendees eager for more.
