Tilemaster Adhesives staff have been busy raising funds for charity recently.
Stuart Forkin recently battled the elements to complete the Liverpool Half Marathon for Alder Hey Children’s Charity. Finishing the course in just over three hours, Stuart met the tough conditions head on, especially during the last 3-4 miles toward Pier Head on the Mersey front.
‘Stu’, who previously worked in Tilemaster’s lab, has recently returned to the team as a Technical Coordinator. Friends and Tilemaster colleagues supported his fund raising efforts and helped him treble his targeted amount, with further donations to follow.
“Alder Hey is a charity close to my heart,” explained Stu. “Both of my kids needed operations – one life saving and one potentially life changing – at a young age and this is a way of saying thank you to a fantastic team of people.”
Meanwhile Hannah Southworth recently joined thousands of participants in Manchester’s ‘Ready Steady GLOW’ Memory Walk. Taking part to support the Alzheimer’s Society, Hannah completed the 5km route with best friend, Emily Dickinson for her grandmother, who is living with Alzheimer’s.
Manchester’s first ‘Ready Steady GLOW’ event followed an illuminated route along the city’s waterfront – from Media City to Salford Quays – across iconic bridges and past the famous Imperial War Museum and Lowry theatre. Hannah and Emily completed the route, in neon and glow, reflecting on their cause and finally leaving a message on the event’s Memory Tree, which ‘blossomed’ throughout the night.
“Over the last few years, myself and my family have taken part in the annual St Catherine’s Moonlight Walk in Preston. This year, I supported my friend and a cause that’s close to our hearts, in the hope that one day we can live in a world without dementia,” explained Hannah.
