ProTile Training Academy will officially open in February 2027, with a brand-new dedicated training facility at Unit 6C, Marshlands Road, Farlington, Portsmouth, PO6 1RU.
The academy has been founded by Andrew Rutter, who brings 42 years of experience in the tiling industry and is CEO of DTW Ceramics UK Ltd, A.G. Rutter Ltd Tiling Contractors and Target Tiles, a specialist tile e-commerce business.
Drawing on Andrew’s extensive industry knowledge and practical experience, ProTile Training Academy has been established as a completely separate and independently operated business, dedicated to delivering high-quality training, education and professional development within the ceramic tiling industry.
The academy will provide practical, hands-on training for individuals looking to enter the trade, develop their existing skills or enhance their knowledge of modern tiling methods, materials and installation systems.
Training will cover a wide range of subjects, including ceramic and porcelain tiling, large-format tile installation, floor preparation, waterproofing, adhesives, grouting, resin applications, mitred joints and advanced professional installation techniques.
ProTile Training Academy is also pleased to announce that it has teamed up with RUBI Tools as its dedicated professional tile cutter supplier, ensuring trainees have access to professional cutting equipment throughout their practical training.
However, ProTile aims to be much more than just a training school. The dedicated facility will also be available to manufacturers and trade partners for product demonstrations, technical training, trade events, new product launches and one-to-one sessions with installers and customers.
ProTile Training Academy has joined The Tile Association (TTA), demonstrating its commitment to supporting the association’s strategic objectives of raising professional standards throughout the tiling industry.
Speaking about the launch, Andrew Rutter said: ‘Having spent 42 years in the tiling industry, I’ve seen first-hand how much our trade has evolved, particularly with the introduction of large-format tiles, new materials and increasingly advanced installation systems.
‘My business partners and I are passionate about making professional tiling training accessible to everyone – from someone considering the trade for the first time through to experienced installers looking to develop and refine their skills.
‘Most importantly, we want to play our part in raising standards, sharing knowledge and bringing greater professionalism to the tiling industry as a whole.
‘We’re also delighted to have RUBI Tools supporting the academy as our dedicated professional tile cutter supplier, and we’re looking forward to developing further relationships with manufacturers and industry partners.
‘A tremendous amount of work has gone into creating ProTile Training Academy, and we’re incredibly excited to be approaching our official opening.’
Courses commence in February 2027 and are available to book online now, giving both new entrants and experienced tilers the opportunity to secure their places ahead of the academy’s opening.
